Jonathan's Project Portfolio

Here's a small handful of the projects I've worked on in the last few years and that I'm particularly proud of:

Telco-ISP / Google Maps mashup

A national telco / ISP was looking for new ways to present lead and customer data to help them figure out what services they should be targeting to their sales leads. Using a blend of the Mapstraction javascript API along with VBScript to make a few backend calls to the Google Maps service, this was built on a Windows Server 2008 / ASP / MSSQL backend. This mashup pools their geo-location data for the wire centers as well as street address information for the clients / leads and provides visual cues for those leads that are 1000, 2500, 5000, and 10,000 linear feet from the wire center. Clicking on the location pins on the live site provides detailed location information including straight-line and wire-line distances.

jabb website

My good friend Jimmy Anderson asked me to put together a website for his Texas-style blues band. He wanted a unique look and feel for the landing page while still providing relevant and easily-updated information for SEO purposes. I built the site using PHP and jQuery, and implemented SimplePie to present blog headlines on the landing page and full posts on an inner page. I am also the band's photographer and am responsible for most of the pictures in their photo albums.

Kennesaw State University High School Model UN

I have been closely involved with the KSUHSMUN for several years and have seen the website through several changes, going from a simple set of links and outdated resources to a rich information resource and the primary outlet for information about the conference. The most recent change was from a table-based structure to a fluid CSS-based layout. I have also served as the conference's Press Corps director and have established a rich set of media offerings under the banner of the KSUHSMUN Reporter including audio and video podcasts which are produced and edited by the students attending the conference.

B/D Solutions Consulting

I have worked with B/D Solutions for several years providing web-based solutions. The B/D Startup Estimator® has become the primary vehicle for new client engagement providing B/D Solutions with important information about the scope of work for prospects while also providing valuable information about the startup process to potential clients. The backend is an Apache server using PHP and MySQL.

The Tweetchat Project

Another friend, who is a social-media guru, got into tweet chats and wondered if there was a better way to compile information about chats than through the google spreadsheet that she was using. The site is using CakePHP, jQuery, and MySQL on an Apache server.

Tin Pan Alley

Alex asked me to get him started with a blog and some simple content aggregation from his twitter feed. We built Tin Pan Alley in an afternoon and TPA has been knocking it out of the park ever since. This is a very straight-forward Blogger implementation with some minor customization.
